Sarah Ida is unhappy about spending the summer at Aunt Claudia's in Palmville. She's been sent away because her parents can't cope with her. Then Aunt Claudia refuses to give her an allowance, and Sarah Ida is furious. So she finds a job in a grimy shoeshine stand, the only place that will hire a girl her age.
