Shoestring's End — Tom Burkhalter

Jimmy Ardana, Danny Evans, and the bomber and pursuit pilots of the 5th Air Force continue fighting the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy despite bad food, bad weather, tropical diseases, worn out airplanes, and replacements lacking the proper training. Missions against Rabaul and Lae face mounting opposition as the Japanese run heavily armed convoys south in the attempt to reinforce Lae and wrest control of New Guinea from the Allies.
