Disenchanted lawman, Jake Samson, buys a mountain covered in trees to change his direction. He wants to use the trees to supply rail ties for the new railroad link passing nearby. He little realises that a worked out gold seam is not as worked out as everyone thinks. A local cattleman's daughter catches his eye but her brothers turn bad. Jake uses the gold to fund his sawmill and convict labour to build a road, not knowing that his girl's brother is one of the convicts. Jake helps bring the local ghost town back to life.
