Ultra-sentient beings, known as "Moments," continue to monitor humanity as they themselves make ready for the transition of the universe into its next phase of existence. When two special humans encounter two Moments designated "Eight," it evolves into a complex game of cat and mouse, and begins a rapid chain of events that will endanger the very fabric of the universe.
