Rio Rendezvous — Mary Kerr

There's a new drug Czar. He's not in D C, he's in the valley and he's drawn the attention of Special Agent Beck Turner of the D E A. For nearly a year, every bust Turner sets up goes awry, coming to nothing, a hummer in their world. Beck hears rumors of the new Jefe and his ruthlessness. He gets a first-hand example when a deal goes, but the bust is stolen and four smugglers killed before they are interrogated. His house is burned after the doors are nailed shut. He's not home. Apparently, the new Jefe knows of Agent Turner. An irascible Agent-in-Charge and a secretary he'd rather shoot than tell good morning make the job of taking down the jefe more difficult. Beck chooses his team carefully, three fellow agents, a city cop and an FBI techie make up the force aiming to topple the Czar. The investigation leads to the DEA office and the case becomes more harrowing when he and his team are set up and ambushed. He needs to find the traitor in their midst before they all go down.
