Roane has a target on her back and it's been drawn there by a very wealthy man. When she first arrived at the estate in Mystisk Skov, she thought she was the luckiest orphan ever. Corbian soon realizes that Roane is not like the other orphans, but he masks this knowledge in secrecy. He promises he will find a way to save her from her fate. Roane has been on her own for too long though and doesn't believe him. She knows that the only person you can depend on is yourself and she looks for another way out. She finally learns the true meaning behind the secret document she stumbled upon in Book One. She is sure this discovery will help her defeat Corbian's magic and break the spell once and for all, but she knows she can't do it alone. Does she dare confide in someone, even though Corbian has warned her of the danger in doing so? Time is running out and Roane struggles to make the right choice, knowing that any path she takes will lead to pain for someone. Backed into a corner, she finally accepts that she has nothing left to lose. She has no armor and no weapons, but she is ready for battle.
