Rahti of Lazaronia — Laraine Anne Barker

Fourteen-year-old Rahti has dreamt all his life of his mother abandoning him at birth. But this night his dream tells him exactly where (at the gates of Olwen House) thus setting in motion a very complex spell woven by her. He runs away to Olwen House, where the next part of her spell whisks him to Lazaronia. There, he meets 19-year-old Iggie (his half-brother) and finally the heir to the throne, Ahlita. Still convinced he is dreaming, Rahti falls instantly in love with Ahlita (also part of his mother's spell) and Ahlita seems very taken with him. But she is still a child and is pledged to Iggie. When her parents discover Rahti is the son of the outcast god Fallanein, they plan to return him to earth with his memory wiped. Rahti remembers Iggie said he once created a rift into Limbo (a place of eternal cold and darkness) where Fallanein has been banished. Using the techniques detailed by Iggie, Rahti frees Fallanein, who promises to help him. However, Rahti will need to do two things in return. The first (stealing Fiurzunga, the fabled sword of the Godking Lazarone I) is no problem. But Rahti can't possibly do the second …
