Archaeologist/pilot Jason Cook is on the adventure of a lifetime, unwilling but soon "sold" on helping a "foreign" prince prepare a group of trainees for a mission to a place called Zelesta. With technology beyond even sci-fi writers' imaginations and a huge box dubbed Arc, its neophyte crew are on their way to the stars and changes they couldn't have dreamed would happen to them. One, a former NFL running back without legs below the knees, an engineering degree and an "I'm-the-star" attitude gets another shot at usefulness, rejoins the human race and might make an even better name than he could have on the playing field. Dreams will come true, largely because Jason's crew will launch a try at peace negotiations. They'll need all the help they can get from NDRU60, and a child of that prince, who lives on and rules the planet Zelesta.
