Pedro the Donkey — James F. Hunt

Pedro had heard the mountain lion scream and had heard Charless family talking. Sensing danger, he made three quick steps, cleared the wooden fence, and flew toward the mountain lions scream. He saw Charles and his family crouched down, trying to back away from the mountain lion. Pedro fearlessly ran past Mr. Rogers and up so close to the mountain lion that it could have reached out with its sharp claws and torn Pedros head off. Pedro spun around and thrust his hind legs into the mountain lions head with such force it injured the mountain lion. It turned quickly, letting out a loud scream and ran back into the brush.
