Keith Walker, young but troubled mathematical genius, recently released from a Georgia penitentiary travels to New York City for a job interview. In a cheap midtown hotel he meets charismatic and mysterious Nóra Telegdy, a rich corporate executive. With full room and board she hires him to work on a paranormal geometry project. The irresistible deal has only one catch: Nóra might be a four hundred year old witch. Nóra's archenemy, Ozruth, a demon in disguise, urges Keith to betray Nóra's secrets. Will Ozruth succeed and secure Nóra's supernatural powers for his exploitations? Through nightmares and flashbacks Keith learns about Nóra's ancestry, centuries of persecution, the harrowing death of her mother and her struggle to be accepted as a member of the human race. Nóra's life story is richly interwoven with pre-Christian beliefs and ancient folklore. Born as an aristocrat and educated by a shaman she tries to expiate her murderous nature. Can Keith survive his love for her? Will Nóra be able to sustain the lineage of witches and will they be able to live on in modern day Manhattan?
