Jenny hasn't seen her sister, Sophie, in two years. When Sophie comes to Dallas to visit, Jenny is excited. During the visit, when Sophie tells her sister that her new house is in a nudist resort in Florida, Jenny is mortified.
This is news that begins to set up conflicts in Jenny's mind. At first she questions Sophie's judgment. As she listens to Sophie's reasoning and life experiences, Jenny begins to question her own perspectives. Why is she so modest about her own body, which borders on shame? Why does she and her husband, Paul, hardly ever see each other nude? Why is she so self-conscious about her stretch marks and her sagging breasts, when such things are normal for middle-aged mothers?
Sophie wants her sister to come to Florida with her family for a visit, which brings on more conflicts. Even if Jenny is open to the idea, her husband wouldn't be, and she would never subject her children to adult nudity. Yet she has always considered herself to be an open-minded and practical woman. Does she want to spend the rest of her life devoid of new adventures? Does she want her kids to grow up with the same misgivings she has always had about the human body? Her misgivings begin to seem like a psychological prison.
Jenny and Paul continue to discuss the issues revolving around a Florida visit. They eventually realize there is no practical reason to maintain a negative mindset. After discussing the matter with their children, they decide to go through with it. Will the experience reverse all their old preconceived notions about social nudity, or will the visit become an instant disaster?
