Jealous lovers, a crooked solicitor, trouble with gypsies, illegal liquor, feuds between farmers, unrequited love and more, but did any of it lead to the murder of the beautiful young woman at midnight in a Cornish lane? More importantly, as the identity of the murderer seemed obvious, too obvious, could the Murder Squad unravel the loose ends and follow them back to find the true culprit? And, if they could, would they do it in time to save the accused from the hangman?
