Moonpearl
Moonpearl belonged nowhere -- not to China--and certainly not to cold, cruel England

Moonpearl was raised as Chinese. But, in the house of her new husband, she was bitterly reminded of her English heritage. To the proud and imperious Kim, marriage to an Englishwoman was an insult. Determinedly Moonpearl won his love. But the violence of the Opium Wars shattered their growing happiness.

Destitute, suffering from amnesia and alone except for one faithful servant, Moonpearl arrived in England. But her grasping English relatives made it plain there was no welcome for her there.

Moonpearl's life became one of drudgery and despair, but she clung to the hope that someday, somewhere, there would be a place for her--a home with the son and husband she so desperately loved!
