Levi Hill knew that he was different from other men. He had two gifts, or he might call them curses. He was lightning fast with a gun, and he had premonitions about the approach of future life changing events. He worked as a ranch hand for Stubby Radabaugh, but he was really more like a son to the rancher. Stubby and his wife took him in and raised him as their own after the rest of his family was killed in an Indian raid on the wagon train that was bringing them west. One of Levi's premonitions began when Stubby's married daughter, Myra, and her infant daughter were kidnapped by a band of marauding Indians after they killed her husband. Levi's premonition became real when news of Myra's fate arrived at the ranch. Levi then teams up with Civil War veteran, Jim Keller, who had tracked the Indians to their camp in Montana. They embark on a daring rescue attempt that will invoke white-knuckled page turning. The subsequent investigation and final resolution leave Jim with another premonition-that the best use of his unique gifts might be in law enforcement.
