Matt Luna and Michelle "Misha" Pomroy are disabled veterans who met while transitioning out of the military. The journey begins in the Washington DC area and travels south to Marathon Florida where they take up residence on a boat named The Dreaming Moon. Along the way, Misha, who was an Army medic and becomes a nurse. Matt had no previous medical training and becomes a nursing assistant. After attending school in Orlando, they move to Cape Canaveral and find jobs at the local hospital. Problems ensue with drug and alcohol addiction that necessitate a move from the area to protect Misha's reputation and nursing license. During this mix of emotional issues and troubled times Matt discovers that he has a special perception, he can see the dreams of the dying when he touches them and that they somehow know he is there to help them transition. The siren's song of the Keys calls to them and they heed her call. That's when the real adventure begins.
