The Test…

On her 21st birthday, musical entertainer, Lindy Lawrence decides -- over the objections of her domineering show business mother--to visit her cousin Fran and her husband and children on their farm in the south of France. En route, Lindy meets a provoking young man who turns out to be Fran's brother-in-law, Rejean Paquet. For some reason, the attractive Frenchman takes and instant dislike to her -- a feeling Lindy soon decides is mutual. But in spite of this, she is enjoying her visit when a crisis arises. Fran, expecting another child, must go into the hospital and Lindy volunteers to take over the domestic chores -- keeping house, caring for the family and cooking for the harvest hands. It's a challenge made more difficult by Lindy's determination to show Rejean she is not just a beautiful but helpless female. Another complication, sweetly-scheming Suzanne Durance, who plans to marry Rejean and wants to see Lindy fail…

On her 21st birthday, musical entertainer, Lindy Lawrence decides -- over the objections of her domineering show business mother--who has made Lindy's earlier years miserable--to visit her married cousin, Fran Pacquet, now living with her husband in the Provence region of France. Lindy is both anxious and excited about her "adult" decision; France should be a good proving-ground for her, she reasons.

When Lindy arrives at her cousin's, she is treated cordially, but Fran and her husband suspect that Lindy will soon tire of life on a French farm. But despite the fact that Fran's handsome brother-in-law, Rejean, seems to have taken a dislike to her, Lindy begins to enjoy herself.

Then comes the real test. Fran must leave for the hospital to have another child, and Lindy volunteers to take over her domestic duties, namely, the cooking, housekeeping, etc. But in her efforts to prove to Rejean that she is no powder-puff and that she can run a house as well as any other woman, Lindy seems up against more than she bargained for. And matters are complicated by another young woman, Susanne Durance, who is also impressed with Rejean.
