"Stagestruck!" was the way Kate Brown's Aunt Diana always put it when Kate talked about leaving home and trying for an acting career. Yet, when her aunt died she left Kate a tidy sum of money and a note saying that while she would prefer her niece to use her inheritance to help start a home with some nice young man, she was perfectly willing to have her use it to make her "play-acting" dreams come true. Kate had been trying for three years to make those dreams a reality but, so far, no name in lights---just run-of-the-mill temporary jobs in summer stock and then back in New York, looking for another one. And then one afternoon on the beach she meets Pete Smith, a young man with a play he always wanted to write, who suddenly discovers just the inspiration he needs in Kate.
