Laura's First Family — Susan Leigh Carlton

This is the story of Brian, one of the ten Pinckney brothers of Charleston. Brian Pinckney was a captain in the Confederate States of America Army. He was wounded and captured during the battle for Gettysburg. He survived his wounds, and spent the rest of the war in relative comfort as a captured officer. He harbored a heavy guilt feeling because while he was safe away from the fighting, the men he had commanded were wounded and dying on the battlefiel.
He bought a large ranch near his brother Brent in San An Antonio and makes arrangements to bring his fiance to San Antonio. The constant complaining and conniving of his fiance causes him to realize he doesn't really like her, but feels honor bound to go through with the marrriage.
She wants to go back to South Carolina and will not get married until he does so.
Will he give in and return to the areas where all of the memories of his fallen comrades haunts him? Will he put his foot down? Is she going to get her way? or will he find someone else?
