Taking up the History of the Kiowa Indians, where it left off in Kiowa White Moon, Kiowa Wind Walker follows the plight of Kiowa prisoners that were sent to Fort Marion Florida in 1874. There, Lieutenant Pratt tries to help the prisoners by giving them lessons to teach them to read and write and speak the English language, in order to learn to assimilate into American society. Regina West, becomes the teacher to Wind Walker, a rebellious Kiowa brave who doesn't wish to be taught the white man's ways, until he lays eyes on the white woman of his vision. Now, eager to learn from her, he cooperates, only to get tangled in between Regina and Vance Mallory, a guard at the prison, who Regina is planning to marry. Now Regina has to choose between the two, but in the process, it could shame her prominent family and put Wind Walker's life in danger.
