Kyra Chase is on assignment in Wright City to find the story behind the previous summer’s cocaine scandal. As she engages in a battle of wills with the sheriff, this city girl will soon fall head over heels in love with the town and the sheriff.

Talk about trouble; Kyra is knee deep in it. She’s barely in town twenty-four hours when a murder occurs. Since she and the deceased are from the same city and she’s on the sheriff’s bad list, she’s a suspect.

When the second body shows up a few days later, Sheriff Kevin Johnson believes the killings have everything to do with the reporter’s famous father.

Kyra knows she’s falling for the sheriff when she tells him the horrible circumstances of her last engagement. She finds comfort in Kevin’s arms, and passion takes over.

With the realization that Kyra is the intended target of a hit, Kevin sets out to protect her in his own way. He thinks his plan is working, until the next murder victim is discovered. Kevin starts to unravel a mystery, and when the killer comes out of the shadows, Kevin’s own life is in danger.
He soon discovers that falling in love with Kyra Chase is anything but simple.
