Quiet little Varigo is suddenly the scene of world news. Two English couples and two little girls are spending their Christmas holiday in Varigo. Late one night, the parents return to their hotel room and find that their three-year-old daughter Kitty missing. Capitana Carmen of the Guardia Civil ensures everything possible is done by way of a search. But no Kitty, no witnesses, nada. Then along comes El Capo, The Toad, and solves the mystery â€" the father did it.The press love it. The father denies it.

Meanwhile, Gheorghe has been touring Romania and discovers his healing powers can also land him in trouble, when he is ‘acquired' in a semi-permanent manner by a band of Roma. In a word, kidnapped. Jesús is, of course, intermeddled in both kidnappings.
