In the distant future, mankind has been brought to the brink of extinction. The human colony worlds, once densely populated planets with millions of people, are now little more than trading outposts. Those that remain are largely oblivious to the danger or just how close humanity came to being extinguished. Some carry tales of a fearsome battle a thousand years earlier, in which the combined military might of the human colony worlds was decimated by a dark and powerful enemy, known only as the Void Lords.

Into this bleak future awakens Izikiel. Devoid of his memories and pursued by the creatures of the Void, he is forced to accept the incredible burden that has been asked of him. For in him lies the human colony worlds' salvation. Only he can restore the balance between the Void Lords and the true believers.

But first he will have to remember who and what he is. With the forces of the Void closing in and his greatest allies unwilling to join the fight, not even the incredible plan put in place by the second disciple, almost a thousand years ago, may be enough to save the human colony worlds from the darkness of the Void.
