After his time in the navy, he earned his BS from Ohio University and an MS from Purdue University. He then worked for over thirty years as a teacher.Vakerics met his wife in high school, and they have been married for over fifty-five years. Their sons are now grown and married and have made Vakerics and his wife proud grandparents and great-grandparents. Now in retirement, he spends his time writing and working on his woodworking and model trains.
