The license collectors have the right of entry to your home, forced if necessary. If you do not have a valid license they will ask the police accompanying them to arrest you immediately. Thousands of people a year are imprisoned and fined in the UK. Whether you watch the BBC or not is academic (and many people don't watch it) you still have to pay the license if you own a TV set. The license collectors will mostly hit homes during the day. That is why twice as many women as men go to jail for this offense. The children are taken into care.
