This story is based on some actual events that have happened in a man's life and dictated him finding his true self. The story begins with a young boy learning of his heritage and family tradition, and growing towards trying to seek the inherited familial traits that his father and grandfather possessed. The boy goes through his own trials and tribulations to determine, for himself, if he is worthy of the family name and the family traits of honor, bravery, and most of all, courage, that have made the Mayfield reputation so special. Honor, bravery, and courage have placed the boy's father and grandfather as remarkable men, and thus, the reason for the title of this book, Inherited Courage. The philosopher Socrates once said, "Know yourself." The young boy becomes a man and through his life he searches from every event and action in his life if he has any of the traits he admires. He so desperately needs to be accepted in his family's eyes. The ending comes with a dramatic conclusion that will hopefully fulfill each reader.
