Indiana's father has just died, and as he had no sons, the inheritance has gone to her male cousins. Indiana's mother and sisters are forced to leave their San Francisco mansion. Indiana's mother, Deborah, wants to marry Indiana to money with great haste. Without Indiana's knowledge, Deborah responds to a man advertising for a mail order bride.
