Mercy is a rural turn-of-the-century town. One fall evening the tragic death of three-month-old Jeremiah Hickory changes the lives of everyone who calls it home. The infant's passing causes a chain of events that alters Mercy forever. Led by their own fears and malevolence, the townsfolk of Mercy commit an unforgivable act. Two innocent lives are taken in a moment of despair. A beautiful young woman is branded a witch and burned alive upon a cross. An innocent man's life is lost in an attempt to save her. From those deaths a guardian is born, one who walks at night among the corn rows to seek redemption. Only retribution can set them free.
