In a Pig's Eye

Jimmy Flannery -- Chicago's most endearing sewer inspector -- has just been named Democratic committeeman for the Twenty-seventh Ward. What with the celebration, plus eating for two ever since his wife Mary told him she was pregnant, his diet's shot ... which is why he was sweating it out at the Paradise Health Club when Mr. P. Pig lay down to do some leg lifts and met his maker. When the corpse remains unidentified, Jimmy gets curious. Being a ward leader isn't so bad, he decides, when a high-and-mighty police captain wants him to help investigate. Then one of the big boys turns off the juice, the coroner's file is closed, and warlord Vito Vellitri tells Jimmy to mind his own business. But Jimmy's got thirty pieces of silver from the dead man's pocket, an what he saw in a Pig's eye that won't let him stop until he turns up the truth....
