Claudia Kay Mason was Mother Kalina's second daughter by a different man. She was an unruly child that Kalina feared what she would do when she reached mating age. Sure enough, when she took a sailor that she adored her passion was so fierce that she felt that she had killed the man as a result. Henry Carter was removed from his ship in an ambulance and disappeared from Claudia's life. The young Mermaid was frantic blaming herself for her lover's death. Claudia went into hiding shutting down the natural telepathy that existed between Mermaids. When young Henrietta Suki was born, Claudia forgot the name that tied her baby to her beloved Henry and called the girl only Suki after her best Mermaid friend Aki Masuki. They were inseparable until in a rash statement her much older sister made the comment about not being able to have children. Claudia Kay gave Suki to Mother Kalina for Roberta and disappeared with her little sloop the Green Mermaid. Of course her older sister and mother were beyond angry. The little sloop had millions of dollars stashed in it of drug money taken from busted drug dealers taken out in their private war on the men in the Straits of Cuba. Their reunion was unusual to say the least. She had returned to take her daughter back with her. When the facts came out that Henry Carter was still alive and looking for the little Mermaid that he still loved, Claudia swam from Corpus Christi, Texas to Key West to be with the man. Love is what it is
