This book is an action packed mystery thriller involving a series of cases which initially appear to be nothing serious but are eventually proved to be of murder most foul, physical abuse and intrigue. The police in several forces being so short of resources, as the initial reports indicate there is little criminal interest, in order to satisfy the complainants, Jack the Hat Richards is recalled. He is a retired Detective Superintendent of New Scotland Yard in London and the National Crime Squad. He frequently returns to duty as an adviser and or expert. He once again steps into the breach and discovers there is far more to the cases than was originally believed. Murder at Sea: A wife, so cruelly treated by her husband who hates water and cannot swim, goes missing on a forced sea fishing trip. Her husband has another woman move in with him the very next day. He is arrested and convicted of murdering his wife, but! The Missing Ladies: An Elderly lady is visited by her estranged son after years apart. He discovers she no longer resides at the family home, it has been sold and reoccupied. There is no trace of his mother. He reports the incident and after some hesitation by the police an investigation is carried out once again by Jack Richards. His enquiries reveal the missing lady is one of several. A thorough investigation is carried out with sinister results. The Brotherhood: Several men are found dead at their homes dressed in the ceremonial garb of the Brotherhood, a secret society of men only. Their deaths are initially written off as accidental. The suspicions of a Coroner causes a full investigation to be made with dramatic results. The Headmaster: Parents of a child at a residential school complain about physical abuse on their son, marks from a canning. A full investigation reveals there is far more to this man. A book of investigations into a wide ranging variety of serious crimes with not only startling results but decidedly unexpected results and conclusions
