When Shelley Rushton discovers that her fiance, Brent, is milking money from her father's bakery business, she is afraid and runs away. Brent hires a detective agency to track her down, and Sam Gilday volunteers for the job. He eventually finds Shelley living in a remote cottage on the Lancashire moors. Her life is in great danger, and when she confides her fears to Sam he vows to protect her. Then Shelley begins to suspect that Sam is lying to her. What exactly is going on?
