Halfling: The Jackal — T.K. Johnson

A young girl named Erynn whose parents were murdered by a group of vampires and is followed by them when she moves in with her aunt and uncle while experiencing weird symptoms. When she starts school, she catches the attention of Alexz Buchanan, a young vampire Hunter who has been raised by vampires for most of his life and that he works for a secret organization call the Council. Alexz and his family take an interest in Erynn when strange things begin to happen around her and they eventually realize that she is a half vampire and that she is being stalked by her parents' murderer, Viktor Jackal, who also happens to have a bitter history with the Buchanans. While they investigate what Viktor wants from Erynn, they discover that Viktor is only a puppet, and that the puppet master is pulling the strings with a more sinister plan in mind for Erynn when they find that her parents' backgrounds may not look as innocent as they seem. While battling Viktor, their own families and the bureaucracy of the Council, Erynn and Alexz must also battle with each other from the growing attraction that is quickly developing between them.
