A young woman is found murdered in the sleepy Dorset village of Combe St. Thomas. Whilst local police are investigating, a reclusive millionaire, who had been living nearby, dies of natural causes, leaving all his wealth to charity and a list of names to a bemused godson, Justin Japes. When the people on the list start dying, apparently of natural causes as well, nothing seems suspicious apart from mysterious biblical messages left by their bodies. The local investigations result in wrong identifications, a possible kidnap and an increasing body count. The Murder Squad at Scotland Yard are called in to assist the Dorset police. Superintendent Robert Dale and Detective Sergeant David Kingston find a trail of deep deception, murderous intent and enough false leads to ensure that the guilty parties can avoid detection as long as they choose That is, until Kingston accidentally uncovers a secret that nobody would have thought connected the homicides . . . An impossible to put down thriller that will have you on the edge of your seats
