1915 - On the Western Front, a tired and exhausted British messenger has been spotted in No Man's Land by the Germans. With mortar shells falling all around, the struggling runner tries to find a way to safety through machine gun bullets and the enemy patrol sent to kill him. In his flight, the runner is wounded in the leg; making his final fate inevitable. But unknown to the messenger, scrabbling awkwardly from one of the British trenches, an unlikely hero emerges. A short, rotund ex-poacher, and simple countryman from Cornwall, is sent out to bring the stricken runner to safety.
With the odds stacked against him, Private Obadiah Gimble must use all of his skill and cunning to face his most dangerous and deadly challenge.
