From Here to Eternity — James Jones

The first volume in James Jones' acclaimed trilogy, From Here to Eternity is perhaps best-known as a Hollywood film starring Burt Lancaster and Frank Sinatra. The novel won the National Book Award and much critical praise for its harsh but moving depiction of the men and women stationed at Diamond Head in Hawaii just prior to the United States entering the Second World War.
