Hunt and his men are busy tracking criminals, murderers, and bushwhackers, rapists, and livestock thieves Hunt is pleased to see his old friend Charles Crawford arrive for a visit and agrees to help Charles stop a wagon train as they search for a murderer. Hunt is surprised when Charles asks Hunt to give Gray Wolf an opportunity to become a U.S. Deputy Marshal. Hunt agrees to send Gray Wolf with his men on a trial mission. Charles's visit is cut short when he is bushwhacked by two criminals on the run that need Charles's horse after one of their horses goes lame. Search expeditions are under way to find Charles when his horse comes back without him, and to find the bushwhackers that shot and robbed Charles. Hunt's men are sent in many different directions to solve crimes and track down the men responsible.
