Edna Joanna Crosby was a junior in high school this year. All of her friends called her "Jo"; then again, the girl had no friends, and that was the problem. Her father was a minister that traveled from church to church pumping up the congregation for a year. He began a new church in August and left when the school year was over: thus Jo never got to develop any close friends in school. This year her folks knew that things were going to be different. They bought her a date to the first dance of the season with the stipulation that the nice young basketball star in the school would introduce her to new friends. While Jo had long blonde hair that hung past her butt, her new best friend was bald from an automobile accident when she was a child. Her and her twin brother were into ballroom dancing as a sport. Jo had no idea that a deep friendship would grow between the two that to last beyond their two school semesters together; nor the fact that she fell in love with the guy that her folks bought for her as a dancing partner The fun starts when she finds out what her folks did.
