Pops Haverstead was pushing a hundred when his body got rid of its earthbound spirit. The man always claimed that he owned a gold and silver mine and that he was beyond being very rich. His relatives knew differently as he lived in a log cabin attached to the side of the rock of a mountain that he owned: Razorback Ridge. At one time there was a coal mine there and lots of pyrite (Fools Gold). During the war years Pops mined pyrite for the war effort. Sulfur and iron along with copper and lead the government wanted. They had need for all that the guy could mine. After the end of World War Two the Cold War was on and Pops still kept his secrets about there being gold where he lived. The local neighbor Sam Wallace knew and he and his children plotted to take it all for themselves legally. They would marry off their beautiful daughter Julia to the inheritor of the property Allen Dawson, Pop's grandson and sole inheritor. It was a good thing Julia also fell in love with the guy, that would make the task so much easier. While the plot almost worked it did produce a girl that was named after her father Allen. Alleen Dawson Wallace inherited Pop's old place and all of the hidden wealth that was still there. This is her story.
