FLASHPOINT (JAMESON IN SCANDINAVIA) BY: ADRIAN A-J. The pace of the story is the first thing to strike one, as the author develops the plot rapidly but then cleverly he varies the speed to accommodate the Peter Jameson extra curricular interests. This giving reason as the story progresses to believe it is not just the work of fiction. There is no lengthy dialogue to otherwise clog the text, however, neither is any crucial information omitted. The story begins with a Russian pirate radio ship forming the basis for a spy network, and with Jameson¿s field agent position being quickly established in Commander Burt¿s very Special Branch of MI6. FLASHPOINT from the very beginning in Scandinavia appears vivid and ultra believable. Adrian Ashton-Jones is adept too at handling the female characters and his understanding of the female psyche he uses to full advantage. Then with his determination to write about male/female relationships as they are, rather than as was of an early `90¿s agenda of political correctness, this brings about a breath of fresh air to literature and through it to life. The entrance too of a real Scottish castle adds much to the U.K feel in passing through its portals, when very soon in his investigations Jameson uncovers an `American Mole¿ inbedded in an organisation seeking control of a hitherto unknown device capable of changing modern warfare. In short this is a thrilling, intelligent and believable action filled novel of a very professional standard. Handle it with care as you will find this a spy story hard to put down!
