Flash of the Sun — Janvier Chouteu-Chando

In pursuit of revenge, former French commando Rene Roccard embarks on a course to assassinate underground leader Ruben Um that takes him from New York to Europe and Africa. Relentless on his heels is veteran American journalist Clement Coulther as they join a motley bunch in a journey of love and betrayal, fear and hope, damnation and salvation, war and death, redemption and peace.

Rene leads the bloody campaign by the Franco-Cameroonian army against the Ruben-inspired rebellion, a dirty war which exposes bright-eyed Gavin to a world of power, glory, money, fame and idealism. As the young Gavin's world falls apart, he, like the majority of his compatriots, fails to understand the manipulations that bring about the defeat of the country's progressive forces and that lead to the ascension to power of the country's first French puppet president.

Cameroon not only lives up to its image as the pearl of Africa, but also proves to be an unfathomable riddle for the unscrupulous souls seeking its subjugation and for those out to liberate it, in their peculiar journey of war and peace that brings redemption and damnation with it.
