Jennifer Collins, with a broken arm in a cast, is trapped in her house by the blizzard of the century and now has unexpected company in the form of her rescuer, volunteer fireman Rick Jenkins. The rescue is prevented however, when a tree is blown down on his truck and he too is stranded in the house on the side of a mountain, without heat, electricity, or outside contact. While the storm is raging, a different kind of storm is taking place in Rick's troubled heart and Jennifer only makes it worse. She's eager to talk about her life and the Lord, two subjects Rick avoids at all costs. As much as he would like to relate to Jennifer on a personal level, particularly since they might not survive the storm, Rick feels the price is too high and she would only fear and resent him. Instead of white as snow, he feels his heart is dark as night.
