Dual Karma is about a young woman named Cadence Maxwell. Cadence's father died in a terrible drowning accident. Since, the accident Cadence noticed the pipes would break every time she would get upset. She also noticed she started having a recurring dream about a woman that looked a lot like her. In every dream the woman drowned herself, killing her and her unborn child. Later on in the book her dreams become more real until she doesn't seem to be dreaming at all. She is faced with wondering if she had some kind of power over water or if she was going crazy. Chapter by chapter the intensity grows right up till the shocking end to the story.
Dual Karma was inspired by a poem I wrote in my creative writing class, that is also in the beginning of the book and again later on in the book. Later on in the class we had do a descriptive piece based on the poem. Finally, we had to think of a story based on the previous pieces. Then Dual Karma was born.
Anyone who loves fantasy, witchcraft, mythology, crystals, and nature would love this book.
I started writing Dual Karma in April of 2012 and finished January 2013.
After the first chapter I got a bad case of writer's block. I could not figure out where I wanted to go with this character that could control water. Did I want her to be crazy or someone important? What kind of book am I going for? I did research and by saying what the research was about will give away too much of the book.
I learned while writing this book that writing was my true calling and no matter what I will always come back to it. No matter if I put it down or not. It will always be there when I get back.
One more thing. This is not the only book. This book is the first prequel of five prequels before I start the main novel. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy getting to know Cadence and what she may or may not be able to do.
This an update to this blog:
The cover was inspired by the main character, Cadence Maxwell and her assumed power over water.
