Two close friends bury their secret in the ground, scoop by scoop with an unspoken oath never to reveal its existence. Tamping the earth, they turn their backs on the present and look toward the future. Nearly seven decades later, fifteen-year-old Nick Churchill relocates with his family to the small community of Crescent Heights joining his teenage cousin, Jake Winslow. Their scheme to make easy money bidding at auction on storage units is spoiled when they are forced to team up with Kaitlin Duncan, daughter of a local newspaper publisher. Their winning bid yields century-old furniture containing handwritten clues, and the trio is convinced that they lead to treasure. Jake, Nick and Kaitlin begin searching for the seventy-year-old treasure, unaware that their every move is closely watched. They soon discover that some treasures hold past secrets…and sometimes the past just can't be buried deep enough.
