The castle rose out of the waters of the Black Loch, grim and forbidding. Here, centuries ago, a young girl had been murdered - drowned in the black waters.
The legend said that Drowned Catherine came back for those who were about to die. And with her came her lover, playing a mournful dirge on his bagpipes....
Jill Jeffries knew better than to believe in ancient superstition. After all, she was a young woman of the twentieth century, and she was here only as a companion to a charming old widow with a weak heart.
But if there were no ghosts, what was the source of the eerily wailing bagpipes that poured a terrifying dirge across the waters of the loch? And why was Jill herself being threatened, frightened, and even attacked?
