Dangerous ice cream — Mary Hall

This collection of graphic stories picks up after the wolf's adventure stealing food from Little Red Riding Hood. As he sets out to find more food and a better home for his family, the tale of the Three Little Pigs is retold to emphasise the wolf's point of view. If only the wolf had been better at communicating and the pigs better at listening ....The wolf and pig families make up and realise that they can help each other to build new homes. Picnic Village is created - and lots of other animals come to live there. They end up with a community, not just a village.The animals from Picnic Village are teased by Mr. Whippett, the ice cream man (dog) on the beach. He tells them that they need to watch out for shark attacks because he has sold lots of ice creams that day. Does ice cream eating cause shark attacks or do they just happen together?These Tales for Critical Thinking stimulate discussion around social issues such as communicating, listening and anger management; what makes a community; and the ideas of cause and correlation.
