Ex-ballerina Alva Monroe inadvertently lands her hot-air balloon in Devon Henderson's pasture. Her landing there is not, as the reclusive musician thinks, part of a grand scheme to undermine Devon's efforts to save scenic Caddo Lake. However, his outlandish supposition is not without some foundation. It is Alva's grandfather, Senator Max Cooper, who originally proposed the lake's destruction.

The Caddo Canal Proposal isn't the only thing standing between the charismatic guitar-man and the former ballerina. With one marriage undone by fame, Devon fears commitment. With one career shattered by an injury, Alva lacks hope. Their problems seem nearly insurmountable. Can a man who's got both feet firmly on the ground learn to let go and fly away into the clouds with the woman he loves?
