Lydia Franklin thought that there was only one love in her life, Joe. But when Joe suddenly dies, Lydia moves from their home in Ohio to a small town in Oklahoma where she and her husband planned to settle planning on living the rest of her life alone. in the course of the move, she restores an old Victorian mansion not knowing that it once belonged to Chet Arensteed's family, a cousin of Joe's. Lydia and Chet meet and eventually fall in love. But their love is soon compromised by an ex-girlfriend of Chet's, Rita, and his present mistress, Nancy. Nancy wants Chet for herself and is determined to have him. She sets out to destroy Chet and Lydia's relationship and believes she succeeded. But does she?
