He's never lost a case, and now ace Manhattan Assistant D.A. Butch Karp is getting a crack at the biggest one of all: the reopened JFK murder investigation. But when sorid segments of the CIA and a self-serving Congress start pulling the strings of justice Washington-style, it looks like somebody wants the old Warren Commission's lone-gunman verdict to stand. Karp won't let it, and plunges headlong into a growing web of conspiracy spun by some of the Hill's heaviest higher-ups. After turning up doctored evidence and dead witnesses, Karp, his indomitable wife, Marlene, and their own team of crime specialists find themselves being stalked by a mysterious killer - who just happens to be a dead ringer for Lee Harvey Oswald.
