Consequences — Abigail Webster

In this historical story, set in Ohio circa 1771, Rebecca wants one last chance to win Seth Clemons over before her family packs up and heads west. She convinces her Pa to permit her to stay with her best friend Dora until the families meet up again in the settlement a month later to get supplies. A week into the visit, Rebecca is frustrated because Seth doesn,t seem to see her as anything but his sister,s little friend. He,s ignoring her, and it sparks Rebecca,s temper into doing something very foolish indeed.

While Seth is taking a swim, she steals his buckskins, and runs away with them. Halfway back to the cabin, common sense prevails, and she leaves them where he will see them, then hurries to put distance between them. However, when Rebecca swipes his clothes, and leaves him buck naked to face the world, Seth,s ,hands off, policy is history. The little brat needs a good spankin,, and he,s just the man for the job. She needs to learn there are consequences to bad behavior.
