Bodie, Montana. A town of new beginnings and the chance for love to take root and blossom. It's there that Nigel Hackett moves after newly inheriting the house and property his late grandfather left for him there.

Nigel is not the only one who's had a recent death, though. He's been corresponding with Elsa Sutherland, whose husband died after just a single year of marriage. Elsa is all alone in Virginia, and maybe, just maybe, she can find lasting love with Nigel and start over in this town.

But there's a lot going on in Bodie that neither Nigel nor Elsa knows. Fairbanks, a rich and powerful and very corrupt tycoon, has been trying for a long time to gain control of the town for his own personal gain.

Things are so bad that Andrew Tierney, a Bodie resident, goes off to the state capital to give a report about what is going on in the town. But he's risking his life in the process. And things are likely to get even worse in Bodie.
